Drake Faculty OER Grant - Fall 2023

Purpose

To provide professional development related to the adoption of OER course materials and promote the use of OER course materials at Drake University.

Activities

  • Participate in a virtual workshop.
  • Complete a series on self-paced online learning modules.
  • Participate in online Teams discussions.
  • Write a book review of an OER selected from the Open Education Network (OEN) using OEN's review criteria.
  • Complete an evaluation of the grant program.

Drake Faculty OER Grant - Spring 2023

Purpose

To encourage the adoption of OER to be used in one or more courses as a replacement for a commercial textbook.

Activities

  • Attend a kickoff meeting via Zoom
  • Assign a Creative Commons license to any materials created.
  • Deposit syllabi and any new course objects created for the project into eScholarShare.
  • Notify the Registrar and bookstore of your OER use.
  • Replace a commercial textbook or course materials with OER in one or more courses before the end of spring term 2024.
  • Conduct a student survey (provided by the library) relating to the use of your OER.
  • Complete an evaluation form that will help us assess your experience, your students’ experience, and the program as a whole.

Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Grant 1 - 2021

Purpose

To enhance teaching & learning by integrating OER into teaching (project description)

Activities

  • Faculty adopted OER materials, remixed materials, created support tools, redesigned courses, or created new open resources.
  • Complete a “Project Report form” indicating how they achieved the objectives.

Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Grant 2 - 2021-2022

Purpose

Capacity-building and professional development to create enthusiasm for and increase knowledge of OER at each institution.

Activities

Meet monthly in discipline-based peer groups (led by a facilitator from each participating institution, usually a librarian) to discuss and learn about OER in their respective disciplines.
Participate in workshops led by nationally recognized OER leaders. Robin DeRosa and Rajiv Jhangiani
Write a book review of an OER from the Open Education Network (OEN) or other reputable source. 
Share experience in program with colleagues at home institution.
Participants were encouraged, but not required, to adopt an OER for one or more Spring 2022 courses.
