New Programs Questionnaire

The intent of this questionnaire is to help the library faculty & staff determine what resources we already have in place that may be able to meet the learning resource needs for the proposed program. We are also attempting to ascertain how comfortable the unit is with “On Demand” provision of resources (journal articles, and/or books). We will take the information you provide and do an analysis of our holdings/subscriptions. We will provide you with the information we garner.

We then would propose a “sit down” meeting where department representatives (Dean and/or teaching faculty) and librarians do a “gap analysis” of the needed resources and what we already have in place. We can also discuss the “On Demand” provision of information if this is desired. The resulting information can then be provided as part of the program proposal.

In brief, the premise of “On Demand”, or Patron Driven Acquisitions (PDA), is that library users find and identify desired documents before the library purchases them. The library pays only for what its patrons use. The PDA model varies slightly depending on whether the document is an e-book, print book, or a journal article. For more information, see the Patron Driven Acquisitions FAQ
