Search for Missing Items


If a book or audio-visual item is not on the shelf:

  • Check the item’s record in SuperSearch to make sure it is not checked out.
  • Go to the Information Desk on the main floor to ask a staff member or student worker for assistance.
  • We will double check the shelf for the item, using several common search strategies. If the item is not located, you will be asked to fill out a Search Request Form about the missing item.
  • In-depth searches for the item will be then be conducted by staff for a couple of weeks and you will be notified of the results.  If the item is not found and declared missing, we may recommend that you place an Interlibrary Loan request for the item. This service is only available to current Drake faculty, staff, and students.  Others can use their local public library to order Interlibrary Loan items.
