Academic Search Complete - EBSCO

Academic Search Complete includes more than 8,992 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1865, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format

AFI Catalog of Silent Films

The AFI Catalog Silent Film database contains over 25,000 entries for silent American films from the years 1893-1930. Entries for silent films produced after 1911 are for feature-length films only.

Available on-line through CREDO Reference, this encyclopedia examine women's contributions to film - in front of the camera and behind it.

Internet Movie Database

"IMBd continues to offer a plethora of movie information. The user can search by title, people, characters, plots, quotes, etc. in almost 400,000 films. Approximately 2,000 new titles are reviewed each week. The genres covered include theatrical releases, made-for-television movies, TV series, direct-to-video films, mini series, and live action games; the data include full cast and crew lists, awards, reviews, plot, and quotes. In addition such topics as trivia, goofs, alternate versions and titles, box office business, merchandising, and filming locations are given.

Public Moving Image Archives and Research Centers

"This site gives fast access to major film archives, including seven in Africa and the Far East (including the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film and the Israeli Archives), 15 in Asia and Oceania, 29 in Canada (but only five of the many university collections), 86 in Europe (from Antwerp Filmmuseum to Wessex Film and Sound Archive), 18 in Latin America, and about 300 in the US (including 12 presidential collections). The listed archives house much more than film, so this site serves an encyclopedia of interests, from baseball to labor to transport to Will Rogers, and then some.
