As part of the Midweek Muses and Munchies, Professor Elizabeth West present on the topic of Nature Writing.  She will provide an overview of the kinds of writing that are lumped under the category of "nature writing" so readers can be more aware of differences in approach, etc. (examples would be literature of place, spiritual writing in tradition of transcendentalism, scientific writing, writing of observation, ecological writing, etc.).  The first session will be mostly on this set of divisions and opportunities.  The second session will address some of the questions most important to this category of writing; suggestions on how to experiment with nature writing on your own; and why it matters.  Summer reading list will be provided at both weeks.
