Trial Database - IRIS (Illinois Researcher Information Service)

A free trial of the IRIS Database is available now through November 9, 2009.

The IRIS Database (with Alert and Expertise Services) contains records of over 9,300 federal and private funding opportunities in all fields.  Updated on a daily basis, every record in the database is reviewed and edited at least once a year.  Searchable by keyword or specific field, searches can be limited by deadline date, citizenship, academic level, and other criteria.  IRIS records provide contact information (including email addresses). a brief but informative description of the program, and clickable keywords from the IRIS Keyword Thesaurus.  Find more information and tips at IRIS: A Short Course.

Trial Database - Harper's Digital Archive

A free trial of Harper's Magazine and digital archives is available now through November 13, 2009.

Harper's is a monthly general-interest magazine covering literature, politics, culture and the arts.  The second oldest continuously-published magazine in the United States, Harper's was launched in June 1850.  Its early issues included material that had already been published in England, but the publication soon began to print the work of American artists and writers.  It subsequently published commentaries by prominent politicians from both sides of the Atlantic, such as Winston Churchill and Woodrow Wilson.  Other notable contributors include Horatio Alger, Stephen A. Douglas, Robert Frost, Henry James, Jack London, Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain and John Updike.

Trial Database - Papers of Dwight D. Eisenhower

We have set up a free trial of The Papers of Dwight David Eisenhower through November 14, 2009.

This database provides the most comprehensive collection (over 14,000 pages) of the 34th U.S. president's most significant writings, including letters, memoranda, cables and directives from the years prior to World War II through the full term of Eisenhower's presidency.

Free access to H1N1 information from EBSCO

As public concern about H1N1 and the upcoming flu season continues to grow, the medical and nursing editors from EBSCO Publishing have responded by offering the latest evidence-based flu-related information available for free.

This free flu information resource will provide continually updated, evidence-based clinical information from DynaMed and Nursing Reference Center, EBSCO's clinical nursing point-of-care databases, along with patient education information in 17 languages from Patient Education Reference Center.  Please visit this site often and feel free to share, post, and email this link to your colleagues, family and friends.

Trial Databases - Mergent

We have set up three Mergent databases to trial through September 30, 2009.

  • Mergent Horizon - An online research application that includes the most comprehensive database of US-traded companies organized by the goods and services from which they derive their revenues as well as their key business relationships.
  • Mergent WebReports - This database of digital corporate manuals allows access to a vast archive of corporate and industry related documents.  WebReports contains more than 180,000 documents covering over 100 countries and industries.

Trial Database - Publishing Opportunities Database

A trial of EBSCO's Publishing Opportunities Database has been set up through October 2009.

Publishing Opportunities Database provides an extensive listing of opportunities from three distinct sources, for professors, post-doctorates and other students interested in presenting and publishing their research papers: Journal Call for Papers records index, Conference Call for Papers, and Special Issue Call for Papers.

Trial Database - DynaMed

A trial of DynaMed has been set up through November, 2009.

DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'.  Features include:

A trial of AP Images has been set up through September 15, 2009.

AP Images is a database of over 180 years of history as witnessed by The Associated Press.

More than 5 million photographs from 1825 to today, with about 3,000 new photos added every day.

    GRAPHICS: More than one hundred thousand graphics, including maps, timelines, logos and graphs. 
    AUDIO: Over one million audio clips from the 1920s forward, including hourly newscasts.
    TEXT:  Over one million news stories.

The Associated Press has won more Pulitzer Prizes than any other news agency, and is the most credible source for non-biased reporting. AP Images is a totally new interface with state-of-the-art search functions and save options. Availability of all the AP Image content for downloading and use for research and educational purposes.
